My project "Gold of Growth" has won first place in the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IESNA) Boston Section Student Scholarship Design Competition 2017-2018.
The design concept is based on growing force of life. The theory of the golden ratio as a basis of life itself become an inspiration for the project. That foundation provides understanding life as some contained force that wants to break out
of its shell and expand.
This manipulable lighting fixture could stretch itself like a sprouting seed. When the light is compact it is closed to the environment and does not communicate with it, but one still will see the light inside. In the physical implementation of this idea. the light will serve as a diffuse decorative one. This will cultivate a calm mood and comfortable atmosphere that will help a person relax and feel safe.
When the light opens, it exhibits its inner life and shines brighter, becoming a flexible task light. The amount of light can be easily adjusted by folding the segments of spiral and fixing them in the desired position with the magnets embedded into the fixture.

This is an exercise in polygonal modeling for Zwall company. Zwall specializes in custom-made high-reliefs (it. bassorilievo) and needed to build 3D low-poly models they distribute to architects and interior designers to be used in renderings. This is one of the pieces by Leonid Kim (“Nautilus”). The first picture is the polygonal mesh, the second- final rendering.
